Decorating Cookies!

On Black Friday this year we did NOT go shopping but we did have some spaghetti and decorate cookies! Ian's cousins, Payton and Chance, came over and we all went to see "Planet 51" (which really isn't that good, wait for video!) and then came home and ate spaghetti and meatballs and then decorated sugar cookies. This was the kids' favorite activity next to the movie. Chance's cookies all had at least one bite mark on them as he just couldn't wait to eat them! And all 3 kids took the liberty of sprinkling the cookies with Christmas sprinkles as well as their tongues! :) It was good time and I almost didn't get any pictures since they were speed decorating! We love you Grandma Lee, Uncle Stephen, Chance, Uncle Jeff, and Payton! Miss you already...

Happy Thanksgiving!

We spent Thanksgiving with Chuck's side of the family and it was a lot of fun. Ian loved playing with his cousins and it is always good to see the family. All the food was amazing and Great-Grandma made fantastic pumpkin pie. A bottle of wine helped me have an even better time, of course, but I think everyone is still talking to me... ;) I do love this time of year being with family and friends and eating lots of good food (and of course, good drinks!). We are putting up the Christmas tree tonight, as is tradition. Good dinner and watching Christmas movies as we decorate. Can't wait to watch Elf!!! "The best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear!"

Best Friends!

Ian has finally met his new Best Friend from school, Christopher. And ironically enough, Christpher's last name is Charles. Easy name to remember since Chuck's name is Charles Christopher! They are in the same class at school so they have a lot in common. They had their first playdate last Saturday at Christopher's house. Ian had such a good time and they were both so excited! We got to meet Christpher's pets: a lizard, a snake, and a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach! Good thing they are Christopher's because there is no way that cockroach would be allowed at my house! Ewww...have chills just thinking about it! We are just so glad that Ian has found a good friend to make school a little bit more enjoyable ;) Christopher came over to play today and they have been playing Star Wars the Clone Wars all day. Christopher is actually getting out the Transformers that Ian hasn't touched for the last couple months. Ian is under the impression that he can only like one thing at a time...boys...! The boys wanted hot dogs for lunch but I, unfortunately, do not have any so they ended up with Lean Cuisine pizza! haha - I guess it is more healthly right? :) Of course they had a brownie before... I am always the best role model!! :P If you ask me, Dessert should always be first ;)

It's snowing...

It is snowing like MAD out here in Sugarhouse! So I am in my pj's at 1:54pm updating my blog. If you know me, you know I do not drive in the snow. Just thankful it is Saturday and I can sit in my pj's all day and drink hot chocolate and play Uno with my little man. So go ahead snow, bring it! ;) (But go away by Monday okay?) Cheers!

Happy Halloween!

Ella - Tinkerbell, Elijah - Zombie Dr., Sadie - Zebra, Baylee -
Hannah Montana, and Ian - Clone Trooper

The kids had a great time Trick-Or-Treating together last night. It was a bit colder than last year but that didn't stop them. The boys and Baylee kept running to house after house while Sadie and Ella brought up the rear. Although Ella's sweet little voice saying "Twick-or-Tweet" got her handfuls of candy from every house and ended up with an "awful heavy bag" (her words exactly!). So adorable! She also let me know that it was "awfully cold" so I wrapped her in my warmest coat ever made and Chuck carried her the rest of the way. We came back to Bryan and Jamie's to eat some stew and queso, which was absolutely amazing! Although I lost my awesome buzz from the Jell-O shots eating but it was worth it! ;) Then the kids had a blast eating candy and playing like crazy kids while the adults watched Ghost Hunters' "Scariest episodes". All in all, a great Halloween with great friends! Thanks Bryan, Jamie, and Courtney! :)

Wee Witches weekend at Gardner Village

Saturday Ian and I went with Keni and her girls and her niece, Emily, to Gardner Village for Wee Witches weekend since Witches Night Out is now women only and 18 years and older. We did "Ride to a Witch" and we all got to go on a hay ride to the Witches' house. It was an old train car that they made up to look like a home. The witch showing us around was Mildew Rose and she was a hoot. She scared the kids and made them jump a couple times. It was enough that Ian then held onto me for dear life for the remainder of the tour. She showed us a potion to grow toenails for a delicious stew; lizard tongues, chicken eyeballs, pickled pigs feet, as well as armpit hair from a dragon (quite a rare and valuable potion ingredient). Then Keni ended up stepping on a cockroach that Cami was volunteered to bury it out in the little graveyard. She wasn't scared ;) The kids got the Witches' autographs and pictures taken with the 4 we ran into.
Then the girls got their hair colored and their costumes glitter-fied. They were very excited. Cami is now a Sparkly Panda Bear! And Ian, as a clone trooper, was also referred to as a Storm Trooper and a Jedi of which he quickly let them know he was neither of those. He did go around shooting the witches but none were harmed ;) We tried to get the kids on stage to dance and show up one little girl that thought she was all that and a bag of chips. She even ended the dance with two #1's in the air. Ali totally could have taken her but she was feeling shy ;)
We ended the night at Simply Sushi for all you can eat. Of course, we had to stop and get this kids McDonald's on the way. Keni, Emily, and I ate our weight (and then some) in sushi and spicy upside down shrimp. It was a wonderful end to a fun-filled evening. Let the haunting begin!!

My 99 year old Grandma was in town a few days ago from Idaho and we found out last minute, so we decided to do lunch. It was on Wednesday, Sept. 30th, which is my cousin's birthday. So we all met at Chili's and, seriously, it was the best lunch ever! Not because of the food but the company and my Grandma's comments. She is such a sweet old lady but has some pretty funnily wicked comments. Mandy let Grandma know that she got engaged and, bless her heart, Grandma's comment was "What'd you go and do that for?". Hahahaha, so funny. Then we let Grandma know that it was Mandy's birthday...about 20 times. "Who's birthday is it?" "It's Mandy's" "Oh"

15 minutes later: "Who's birthday is it?" hahaha

But it was extremely touching to see Grandma give Mandy a turquoise ring of hers for her birthday. So now she has something blue for her wedding. I think we all almost started crying since us Hadley women are weepers ;)

Then when we were nearly done with lunch Grandma asked again "Who's getting married?" And Mandy let her know again, "I am. In June." And Grams in her tone again said "Shame on you". LOL, so funny. Bless her heart!

This is the same Grandma that said to me when she was holding my newborn son; "What's his name again?" "Ian" and she humbly replied "Bleh! Hate that name". Not once but twice! It is all good though. We love her too much to get offended. I mean she has lived 99 years, she can say whatever she wants!!!
